Dynamic Mosaic - Help

System requirements

Dynamic Mosaic needs a powerful computing environment because of the CPU intensive nature of bitmap editing.

The following minimum system requirements apply:

  • i5 Intel or Ryzen 5 AMD processor
  • 4 GB MB RAM memory
  • 500 MB of hard disk space for picture libraries
  • 2 GB of hard disk space to store big movies
  • Windows 7
  • 19" Monitor with 1280 x 1024 pixels (4:3)
  • Duo-monitor graphics card

The following system is recommended:

  • i7 Intel or Ryzen 7 AMD processor
  • 8 GB RAM memory
  • 1 GB of hard disk space for picture libraries
  • 4 GB of hard disk space to store big movies
  • Windows 10
  • 21.5" Monitor with 1920 x 1080 pixels (16:9)
  • Duo-monitor graphics card

When running on a mac OS-X:

  • Intel processor
  • Windows emulator
  • All other recommeded system environment for Win

The photo mosaic rendering time is about inversely proportional to the CPU speed. The choice of video card is not of great importance, however on-board video adapters generally use the motherboard RAM for graphics as well, so less RAM is then available for Dynamic Mosaic. Dual-, Tri-and Quad Core processors are supported, although Dynamic Mosaic will not fully take advantage of the multiple core possibilities (measured gain is about 50% with Dual Core processors).

Microsoft Windows versions and Service packs

Dynamic Mosaic has been optimized for Windows 7 systems. However, the application has been tested on machines with Win XP-SP1, Win XP-SP2, Win XP-SP3, Vista Home Premium (and with SP1) and Vista Pro Ultimate. All systems work with Dynamic Mosaic with no known compatibility issues. The application is 32bit, however it will run on 64bit systems.

Although not primarily developed for Windows 10 and 11, the application will run with no known issues on these modern systems. The only thing that might be a drawback is the small window of the application because the GUI is not HighDPI compliant. Meaning: when the Windows desktop is set to e.g. 150% the app will not scale along properly, and will remain in the original size and will look too large for the screen. Better always set the Windows scaling to 100% or 125%, whatever fits the screen best.
